The Northern Plateau Alliance

Scenic Beauty

Come explore the scenic beauty of Tennessee's northern Upper Cumberland! We have everything you could wish for if you enjoy the great outdoors, from horseback riding and fishing to hiking, canoeing and camping. We're home to Dale Hollow Lake, voted #4 Lake in the Nation to "Float Your Boat" by USA Today, and Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, known for its breathtaking gorges and sandstone bluffs.

Recreation

If you prefer some indoor recreation, we have plenty of that in store, too. The Cumberland Mountain General Store offers a great variety of antiques and sundries in a circa-1920s storefront that is now also home to the new Rockabilly Café and soda fountain. Or enjoy live, Friday-night bluegrass at Byrdstown's Dixie Café, which has been serving home cooking since the '40s.

Attractions

We have many star attractions for history buffs, including the Sgt. Alvin C. York Historic Park, where you can learn about the World War I legend's life as you tour his home and family gristmill in Pall Mall. Or check out a replica of the cabin where Nobel Prize-winner Cordell Hull, "Father of the United Nations," was born. But don't stop there. Our area is bursting with historical sites, shops, diners and other treasures just waiting to be discovered!

Great Place to Live and Do Business

Some of our visitors like us so much that they decide to stay, and with good reason — the Northern Plateau is a great place to live and do business! Our beautiful setting and terrific water quality are ideal for industry and tourism, and we have a well-trained, available workforce that exemplifies the spirit of neighborly cooperation you'll find among all of our residents. So whether you're with us for a little while or a long while, we'll be sure to make you feel welcome.
